Broadcast Journalism is a field of Mass Communication and Journalism where information is sent to masses through electronic media like Radio, TV and the World Wide Web. Broadcast journalism saw its peak with the advent of Radio Journalism. In this blog we give you a brief outline of broadcast journalism in India, how did it come into being and how did it take off. 1924 Broadcasting began in India with a private radio service in the city of Madras, Chennai. In the same year, the Indian Broadcasting Company got a licence to broadcast by the British Government, to open Radio stations in Mumbai and Kolkata. 1930 The company filed for bankruptcy, this led to the colonial government taking over and operating it as the Indian State Broadcasting Corporation.
